MAD: Modern American Dinner
My friends and I have made a deal always to try a new restaurant when we meet in the city. This time, we went to a restaurant called MAD, aka Modern American Dinner, located next to the world-famous amusement park Tivoli in the centre of Copenhagen. We ordered a Pó Boy sandwich, crab cakes, a classic burger as well as a Wagyu ‘Gobe’ burger, sweet potato fries and still water. Total cost: DKK 453 or USD 90 for three people.
We all agreed that the Wagyu ‘Gobe’ burger was the best. The Wagyu ‘Gobe’ burger is a burger made with a special kind of beef from Japan where the cows are fed with beers and massaged every day. Weird, I know. But also sort of cool. Besides the burger, I personally also liked the crab cakes. The sweet potato fries, meanwhile, reminded me of Thai deep-fried sliced bananas rather than typical french fries. For the price, though, the MAD set menu is something I’d really recommend. It includes the crab cakes and the Wagyu ‘Gobe’ burger for DKK 199 or USD4 0. I think that’s quite o.k. for a meal in this city.
The restaurant has a very good taste in interior design as well. I liked the decoration and the atmosphere there. Furthermore, the complimentary free wi-fi comes in handy. Especially for tourists. Even if Denmark is an IT friendly country — some would say IT leading in terms of infrastructure –, ironically, not every restaurant offers free wi-fi.
