We left Monterey and drove to Solvang, a small Danish town (settlement). There, we walked around downtown for a few hours. There are many Danish restaurants and food establishments as well as quite a few Danish bakeries. Certainly more than we have seen anywhere else in the US.
We drove from San Fransisco early in the morning and arrived at Monterey in the afternoon. There, we spent most of our time at the Old Fisherman’s Wharf. We had a late lunch at Loulou’s restaurant, ordering the dish of the day, which on that particular day was deep fried oysters and grilled salmon with salad and poached pears.
The California trip was packed with great experiences. So I have so many stories to share with you guys. Especially about food! In mid May Christian and I jumped on a plane from Copenhagen to San Fransisco — with a small stop-over in Heathrow. After exploring San Francisco by foot and tram, we picked up a rented car and headed for Los Angeles, visiting Monterey, Santa Barbara and Solvang, not to mention the spectacular Yosemite National park along the way.
